Hills basketball association is a non-profit sporting organisation based in north-west sydney. Hills basketball's player development program 'hornets academy' involves almost 500 players aged 5-18 years. The hills hornets representative teams compete in the basketball nsw junior metro league and the nsw waratah league. Hills basketball has one of the biggest referee programs in australia, with over 100 qualified referees officiating local competition and representative games. Over 200 local competition games are held at hills sports stadium every week, involving more than 3, 500 players. The association was established in 1985, and built the hills sports stadium in 1995. Upon written acceptance, the person's details shall be entered upon the Register, and from the time of entry on the Register the person shall be a Life Member. This area is provided for officials to coordinate, roster and relax during events. Function Room located on glossy 1, and with a seating capacity for 100 theater style, the function room is ideal for conferences, meetings, dinners or as a V.I.P. The Hornets' Academy Skills Sessions are designed to thrive players skills. Two coaches for each age group ensure the beginner through to the advanced player receive the attention required to develop their skills. Three programs are offered during the school holidays: Manager is welcome to attend event but it is not a requirement. The Association can yield training session plans (if required) and will have fully suited coaches at the stadium during the day to help coaches clarify drills and bear assistance if required. Should you require assistance or excess information throughout the season please do not hesitate to approach either the Court Supervisor or Referee Supervisor during your competition. To facilitate best practice game management, team benches are only to be occupied by team members, coach and manager. Each junior team is required to have an adult manager and this person should be present for all games. Where the manager is unable to attend a game the team must have another mature in attendance who is accommodating to take responsibility for the team. Examples of behavior which falls outer the spirit of the rules include abuse of referees, foul play and abuse of opposition players. To facilitate best practice game management, team benches are only to be filled by team members, coach, assistant coach and manager. Officials must come 45 minutes prior to their game. JESSIKA Johnson (Coach) An outstanding coach who contributes to the Association both with local teams (16 teams) and the Hornets' Academy program. Jess plays a major role in the education and development of our younger Hornets Academy coaches and has a natural skill to mentor young athletes. Her roles over the former 5 years include representative player, local player, Hornets Academy Coach and more recently a Court Supervisor where she’s shown outstanding initiative and leadership skills. DOE Burke (Elite Coach) Practically born at the stadium, 21 year worn Zoe has been a part of the Hornets' Academy Coaching Program for over 6 years and a Representative assistant coach for the preceding 4 years. A seasoned representative State player, Zoe is keen to thrive her skills further in the aim to receive on a Representative Head Coach role in the future. In conjunction with the campaign, the Association has launched a Leadership scholarship program to incorporate female youth players, youth referees, coaches and referee coaches to develop both technical skills and leadership qualities. In addition, a development tour will be organized for coaches and referee coaches in June, attending the National Classic and working with national smooth coaches. If a competitions shows SOLD OUT we have exceeded our limit on the number of teams for that competition (includes all grades).
